Vance Young

Vance Young is one of our regular senior coaches at Medway Junior Badminton. He has coached at Castlemaine Hall for over 10 years, is qualified to Coach Part 2, UKCC Level 2 and in the process of completing his UKCC Level 3. Vance has an Enhanced DBS check and is First Aid qualified.

During the week Vance coaches individuals and small groups by personal arrangement. Many of the juniors he coaches are also involved in Kent Badminton at county junior level. These are currently: Amy Spring, Rhianna White, Alex Davies, Elleanor Burns, Hannah Spring (U17), Matthew Whetton (U17), and Zahra Bhatti (U17)

Vance has also coached several senior players to County standard, namely Craig Spooner, Daniel Groom, and Emma Smethurst all of whom have played for the First Team; Lawrence Nemestothy for the Second Team and Neel Clements and Martin Woolley for the Third Team.

Lesley Uphill

Since moving to Kent over 8 years ago Lesley has coached regularly at Castlemaine hall.

Lesley is a qualified Level 3 Badminton England Coach and a full member on Badminton England's Coaching Register. As a full member of the BE Coaching Register she possesses public liability and professional indemnity insurance. This gives her players peace of mind that ther coaching activities are conducted under appropriate cover.

Lesley has been coaching for over 10 years ranging from social to current county players on a one-to-one or group basis. Whether you are looking to begin a new sport or train for a major badminton tournament Lesley can help you improve your game and reach your goals.

Lesley has been playing badminton for over 20 years and during her playing career she was fortunate enough to play for her country, gain over 100 caps for her county, and reach number 1 in the English Rankings. From playing to having over 10 years coaching experience she feels she has the neccessary expertise to assist you, whatever standard you may be, towards reaching your playing potential.

Brandon Stapley

Brandon is a newly qualified UKCC Level 2 coach, and soon to be a member of Badminton England’s coaching register. Currently Brandon coaches at Brompton Academy on Friday afternoons as well as assisting with Medway Junior Badminton.

Ian Brothers
 
Ian has been a Registered Coach since 1989. He coaches juniors and adults at all levels. He also provides One to One coaching and group coaching. Ian has an Enhanced CRB check. Ian has played and competed badminton at League and Masters Circuit tournaments at County & England level.
 
Hilary Athawes
 
Hilary is a UKCC Level 2 Badminton England Coach, a qualified BISI coach and an Essentials coach. As a full member of BE’s Coaching Register she possesses full public and professional indemnity insurance. Hilary also has an Enhanced DBS check and is First Aid qualified.

Hilary coaches an NHS Tipping the Balance group on Tuesday mornings and coaches in primary and secondary schools both during curriculum time and in after school clubs. She regularly coaches at Medway Junior Badminton on Saturdays and at The Howard School on Fridays after school.
