Vance Young
Vance Young is one of our regular coaches at Medway Junior Badminton. He has coached at Castlemaine Hall for over 10 years and has contributed to the growth and success of the club. Medway Junior Badminton is a Premier Club and both the club and Vance were recognised for their achievements at this years’ Medway Sports Awards.
Vance is a qualified to Coach Part 2 and is sponsored by Carlton. He is part of the Badminton England JPC programme and attends education and training seminars throughout the year.
During the week Vance coaches individuals and small groups by personal arrangement. Many of the juniors he coaches are also involved in Kent Badminton at county junior level. These are currently Megan Barnes-Rolf (U15), Zahra Bhatti (U13), Eleanor Burns (U13), Nick Jones (U17), Joshua Masters (U13), Henry Skinner (U13), Amy Spring (U15), Hannah Spring (U13), James West (U15) and Rhianna White (U15).
Vance has also coached several senior players to County standard, namely Craig Spooner, Daniel Groom and Emma Smethurst all of whom have played for the First Team; Lawrence Nemestothy for the Second Team and Neel Clements and Martin Woolley for the Third Team. In addition Daniel Groom is currently the English National Singles U19 title holder winning the event on February 22nd 2009 at the age of 17. Daniel holds a singles ranking of 1 in the country at this level, the first Kent player to achieve this since Peter Knowles 21 years ago.
